ACCENT COACHING - ACCENT REDUCTION - PUBLIC SPEAKING
Accent Coaching for Actors
Any accent is possible! Whether for a specific role or general knowledge individual coaching will give you a strong technical hold on a new accent. I work with actors on specific text to adapt vocal posture and sound changes. We apply these to exercises and improvisation to give you a nuanced and authentic accent that truly is your own.
Dialect Coaching for English as a Second Language Professionals
I started Pretty Speak as a way to help you modulate your accent as a tool for your business. For English as a second language speakers American Pronunciation can feel like a hurdle or an anxiety. Individualized coaching will address your specific needs so that you can express your self with Confidence and Clarity.
I divide my lessons into 2 major components,
First, Articulation, Rhythm, and Placement in the Mouth (which controls the overall tone of the accent).
Next, we focus on Grammar, Syntax, Unfamiliar Sounds, and Common Phrasing. We cover strategies on how to tackle difficult topics or difficult people and apply them in improvised work place scenarios and social settings. This will give you the calm and confidence to take control in any conversation.
Giving a toast? or a presentation at work? These simple public speaking skills will help you get your message across and leave a lasting impression. Stance, breathing, and intelligibility are integral parts of a likable, charismatic presentation.
I'm here to empower. I first became interested in Speech when I attended Rutgers University, where I graduated with a BFA in Theater. I have studied the voice and speech techniques of Kristen Linklater, Patricia Fletcher, Catherine Fitzmaurice, and Dudley Knight. I am also certified to teach Knight-Thompson Speechwork. My primary goal in coaching is to help others claim the power of their voice.

I engaged the expert services of Eliza to help minimize my Australian accent for auditioning purposes as an actress. She is a charming, talented coach who was able to really direct me to the areas of speech I needed to concentrate on most. Eliza was incredibly helpful in showing me the patterns of speech I had developed over the years and discovering how to break them down and alter them. I have no hesitation in recommending her as voice coach for anyone needing assistance with speech training in any capacity. - Lisa Carrington, Actress
Eliza is one of the most intuitive and technically expert students I've ever had the pleasure of training. She has a sensitive ear, a strong kinesthetic understanding of speech mechanics, and a gentle, effective way of working with students. I am very happy to recommend potential new clients to her when I can! – Julie Foh, Voice and Speech Teacher at National Theater Institute and Rutgers University
